The relationship isn't broken.
It needs different tools.
Relationships break down under stress, poor communication patterns, and the accumulated weight of unaddressed wounds — not because the people in them stopped caring. Couples therapy is where you learn to communicate in ways that actually reach each other.

You do not have to be
in crisis to come to couples therapy.
Communication Breakdown
The same arguments cycling without resolution. Conversations that escalate before anything gets said. Partners who feel like they are speaking different languages.
First Responder & Military Families
Shift work, hypervigilance that comes home, difficulty transitioning between the job and family life, secondary trauma in spouses. This culture is specific — and it deserves a clinician who understands it.
Trust & Betrayal
Infidelity, broken promises, or patterns of behavior that have eroded the foundation. Rebuilding trust is possible — it requires honesty, accountability, and the right support.
Life Transitions
A new baby, a job loss, a diagnosis, retirement, an empty nest. Major transitions stress even healthy relationships. Proactive support can prevent small fractures from becoming large ones.
Intimacy & Connection
Feeling more like roommates than partners. Emotional distance that has built slowly over time. The loss of the closeness you used to have.
Premarital Counseling
Building a strong foundation before the wedding. Identifying communication patterns, values alignment, and potential conflict areas before they become entrenched.
"Coming to therapy together is one of the most concrete things you can do for a relationship you want to keep."
Structured, direct work —
no taking sides, no circular sessions.
Couples therapy at Magnolia is structured and goal-oriented. Sessions are not open-ended venting with a moderator. We identify specific patterns, understand their roots, and build concrete skills that change how you interact outside the office.
Our approach draws on evidence-based frameworks including Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and CBT for couples. We work on communication skills, conflict de-escalation, emotional attunement, and rebuilding trust where it has been damaged.
Individual trauma can significantly affect relationships — especially in first responder and military families where one or both partners carry occupational or historical trauma. When relevant, we address how individual trauma patterns are showing up in the relationship dynamic.
First Responder & Military Couples
The transition from the station or base to home is a real clinical challenge. Hypervigilance, emotional numbing, and the inability to fully disengage from the job affects partners and families in specific ways. We understand the culture and do not need it explained.
Logistics
In-person in Live Oak, FL and telehealth throughout Florida and Georgia. Most major insurance accepted. Both partners must be located in FL or GA for telehealth sessions.
The hardest part is
making the first call.
Reaching out together takes something. We respect that. Schedule an appointment and we will take it from there — no pressure, no judgment, just real work toward something better.
