This is where
careers begin.
We're looking for bachelor's and master's-level students who are empathetic, driven, and serious about a future in mental health. Our internship is intentionally designed as a launching pad — many of our interns go on to join Magnolia as registered interns after graduation, and we wouldn't have it any other way.

Hands-on experience that actually means something
Located in the heart of Live Oak, Florida, Magnolia Therapy Center specializes in individualized outpatient therapy for children, adolescents, and adults. Our clients face a wide range of mental health challenges — which means our interns get real, varied, meaningful clinical experience from day one.
This is not a shadow-and-observe internship. You'll have direct client interaction, hands-on documentation experience, and regular supervision from a qualified clinician. We're invested in your development as a future mental health professional — not just in filling a seat.
Our diverse client base makes cultural competency, adaptability, and strong interpersonal skills essential for success here. If you're ready to be challenged, supported, and genuinely prepared for licensure, we'd love to meet you.
We're also transparent about what we're building: we actively look to hire our strongest interns as registered interns after graduation. If you're interested in private practice, want to pursue licensure in a structured and supportive environment, and see yourself growing with a team long-term — this internship was designed with you in mind.
"The kind of internship that actually prepares you for the work — and opens the door to what comes next."
- Bachelor's and master's-level students welcome
- Direct client interaction from the start
- Weekly supervision by a qualified clinician
- Exposure to trauma, grief, anxiety, depression & more
- Real documentation and treatment planning experience
- A clear path to joining the team after graduation
We're not just filling a placement —
we're looking for future colleagues
The interns who do best at Magnolia — and who we end up hiring — share a specific set of qualities. If this sounds like you, we want to hear from you.
Purposeful & future-focused
You're not here to check a box. You're building toward something — licensure, private practice, a career in trauma-informed care — and you want an internship that actually moves the needle. You're thinking past graduation, not just through it.
Drawn to trauma-informed work
You're genuinely interested in trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and the populations that carry the most — first responders, veterans, families, kids navigating hard things. You don't shy away from the heavy work. You want to learn how to do it well.
Team-oriented by nature
You want to be part of something, not just placed somewhere. You show up, collaborate, communicate, and take feedback as the gift it is. You understand that good clinicians aren't formed in isolation.
Interested in private practice
You've thought about what it looks like to build a private practice career — and you want to learn the business side alongside the clinical side. You're interested in billing, documentation, practice operations, and what sustainable caseload management actually looks like.
From student intern to registered intern to licensed clinician — right here.
We've built this internship to be the first step in a longer relationship. Our strongest interns are offered positions as registered interns (RMHCI, RCSWI, or RMFTI) once they graduate and achieve registration — continuing their supervised hours toward full licensure within our practice, with the team they already know.
Qualifications & key responsibilities
We're looking for students who are ready to show up, do the work, and grow. Here's what that looks like in practice.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Strong communication skills — written, verbal, and interpersonal
- Mental health knowledge — working familiarity with DSM-5-TR, evidence-based practices such as CBT, and ethical guidelines in your field
- Self-awareness & openness to growth — willingness to engage in self-reflection, receive feedback, and develop professionally through supervision
- Organization & time management — ability to work independently and efficiently in a self-directed environment
- Tech-comfortable — at ease using technology for documentation, scheduling, and communication
Key Responsibilities
- Direct client interaction — assist with case management and provide clinical services under direct supervision
- Intake & assessments — conduct intake interviews and administer standardized assessments
- Clinical documentation — maintain accurate, timely records including progress notes, treatment plans, and client information in compliance with legal and ethical standards
- Supervision & training — participate in weekly supervision to develop clinical skills, address ethical concerns, and refine your therapeutic approach
- Administrative support — assist with scheduling, client coordination, and practice operations as needed
Please note: Administrative and clerical duties are a required part of this internship. This gives you a complete picture of how a private practice operates. If you are unwilling to perform administrative tasks alongside clinical work, this may not be the right fit.
"We grow by doing the work — supervised, supported, and never alone."
